Latest changes in Bbook.sty:
6/21: minor changes when latexing all together
2/20: minor fixes...
9/11: Now the next item is "really" fixed...
8/27: Overfull \hbox (36.135pt too wide) error,
which occured at figure and table captions fixed
8/22: Overfull \vbox (1.59999pt too high) error,
which occured on every page fixed
6/24: \authorfootnote defined
Format:
-
The report will be based on LaTeX; in fact, if you use plain latex,
that's already close enough.
-
If you have a decent LaTeX2e distribution, then you only need to download
sample.uu.
(For the time being this is just the table of contents of Chap.1
with a few sentences for demonstration.)
If not, then you may need to grab some of (all are standard LaTeX2e packages):
epsfig.sty,
fancyheadings.sty,
cite.sty,
chapterbib.sty,
makeidx.sty.
(E.g., on fnalu you need to grab fancyheadings.sty but the others are there.)
-
Uncompressing sample.uu produces a subdirectory called Breport/ with the
following files in it: Bbook.sty (style file),
fnal.ps (FNAL logo), newcommands.tex (some definitions),
sample.tex ("master" file to be latexed), and a subdirectory
ch1/ which contains all files for Chapter 1.
The resulting postscript file is sample.ps.
-
A cvs repository will be set up, where the conveners will have authorization
to extract / add / replace files. This should not be a major concern until
the final stages of editing.
Notations: Chapter 1 will use the following (comments please!)
Time evolution including the width difference;
More conventions and notations
Some other issues:
-
Please label equations, tables, figures, etc., as {chapternumber:label}.
For example, in the Working Group 1 chapter {6:niceresult} is good.
Use anything you like for references; two identical reference labels in
different chapters will not be a problem.
-
If you make new definitions, please use \newcommand instead of \def whereever
possible.
-
Please keep all files of your chapter in a subdirectory
(as ch1/ in the above example)
-
Try not to use additional packages. If you must use something, please
restrict yourself to standard LaTeX2e stuff only, and let us know. The one
exception anticipated is side.sty to produce sideways
tables and figures (as in the BaBar book; it defines the sidetable and
sidefigure environments).
-
Some versions of LaTeX (e.g., on fnalu) shift the text down on each page.
If this happens, uncomment the line %\setlength{\topmargin}{-.5in}
at the beginning of sample.tex
Features:
-
Besides issues related to the layout, list of references
chapter-by-chapter should go smoothly
-
The mathletters environment should work as in RevTeX
-
To print equation labels and reference names on the margins, as in the draft
mode of harvmac, use showkeys.sty by uncommenting
the line %\usepackage[notref,notcite]{showkeys} at the beginning of sample.tex
Bugs: If you find any, or if you have questions or
comments, please let us know.
