Kyocera Scanner Howto

You can use this copy machine as a scanner. It is able to send the documents you scan to your email address or directly to your PC.

I Sending scanned documents to your email address

  1. Press the "Scanner" button on the left side of the copy machine control panel.
  2. Touch "Send Email" on the touch-screen.
  3. Select your name from the list. (If your name is not listed select B. Abshier.)
  4. Touch "Enter Dest."
  5. Enter your email address on the touch-screen keyboard, then select "end."
  6. Touch "Enter."
  7. Place your document in the scanner and press the green start button. Note that you can use the document feeder for multipage documents (but see the next step for restrictions on document size).
  8. You may continue to scan documents until the scanner runs out of memory. (Keep in mind that the email server may reject attachments that are too big. > 5M.)
  9. Touch "Scanning Finished." (It may take a minute or two to send the email.)

II Sending scanned documents directly to your PC

If you are going to be scanning a large number of pages, you may want to configure a computer to directly receive scans. Unfortunately, the application which receives files from the printer does not work with Linux. (Windows or Mac)

Set-up the file utility

  1. At your computer: Download, install,and run the Kyocera Mita Scanner File Utility
  2. Write down the ip address of your computer. (You can find this in Windows by running cmd, then typing "ipconfig" at the prompt.)
  3. Setup your computer as a destination on the scanner/printer.

Set-up you computer as a destination

  1. At the scanner/ copier: Press the "Scanner" button on the left side of the copy machine control panel.
  2. Touch "Edit Addr Book" on the touch-screen.
  3. Enter user number "001" on the keypad.
  4. Touch "Scan to PC Common address book" on the touch-screen."
  5. Touch "Register new destination."
  6. Touch the "Change" item, enter your computer's ip address, and touch "End."
  7. Touch the down arrow and create a name for your address book entry.
  8. Touch "Complete Entering."

Scan to your PC

  1. At the scanner/ copier: Press the "Scanner" button on the left side of the copy machine control panel.
  2. Touch "Scan to PC" on the touch-screen.
  3. Select your name from the list. (If your name is not listed select B. Abshier.)
  4. Touch "Address Book"
  5. Select your computer's name from the list.
  6. Touch "Add Destination."
  7. Touch "Close."
  8. Place your document in the scanner and press the green start button.
  9. You may continue to scan documents until the scanner runs out of memory.
  10. Touch "Scanning Finished."
