Beatrix Muehlmann (IAS) “The complex Liouville string: toward dS”

Event Details

I will introduce a new 2d gravity/matrix integral duality. The bulk theory is a two-dimensional string theory defined by coupling two copies of Liouville CFT with central charges c = 13 ± is on the worldsheet. We call this string theory the complex Liouville string (CLS). I will argue that the CLS admits a dual description in terms of a double-scaled two-matrix integral. The string amplitudes, which are the main observables of the CLS, can be interpreted as integrated cosmological correlators at future infinity of dS3. Furthermore we obtain evidence that the matrix integral matches the sphere partition function of 3d gravity with positive cosmological constant to all loop orders, thus realizing a path toward a microscopic model for dS3. This talk is based on work with Scott Collier, Lorenz Eberhardt and Victor Rodriguez.
