Kaori Fuyuto (LANL) “Searching for new physics in violations of fundamental symmetries”
Abstract:
The Standard Model (SM) of Particle Physics has successfully passed virtually every empirical test in the laboratory so far. However, there are still some major puzzles that cannot be explained by the SM in our Universe, e.g., the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, the existence of dark matter, and the origin of neutrino mass. One key approach to solving these puzzles is the search for violation of fundamental symmetries such as CP symmetry and conservation of lepton number and flavor. In this talk, I will discuss how solutions to the above mysteries coming from physics beyond the SM can be probed by fundamental symmetry tests in searches for electric dipole moments and neutrinoless double beta decay.
